Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Heroclix

Last game night, Akanthos refused to leave my house until after I’d watched all three episodes of Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog.

I had heard many good things about it and I admit that it really lived up to the hype.  I enjoy watching Nathan Fillian and Neil Patrick Harris perform and it was fun to see Felicia Day in something other than The Guild.  Joss Whedon sure is a talented guy.  I hope he stays active in the business for a long time.

Anyway, before leaving, Neal asked that I take an extra Per Degaton ‘clix figure and customize it to be Dr. Horrible for him.  I told him that I’d be happy to do so (and I’ll have to make one for myself as well.)  But what’s Dr. Horrible without his nemesis, Captain Hammer?  I think a repainted Damage figure would make an excellent Hammer.

But the point I’m trying to get to with this blog post is I’d like to solicit some assistance in designing the dials for Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer from the rest of the gaming group.  Or just Akanthos, since he’s the one who commissioned the work.

So, let me know what stats and powers you’d like them to have and I’ll get these cranked out.

(I have 3 sealed Collateral Damage boosters we can use for this one.)

Game 2B (if there are 4 or more playing):  400 point open build

Hammer of Thor HeroClix Sneak Peeks

My thanks go to Puuka of HC Realms who found and posted these sneak peeks of the upcoming Hammer of Thor ‘clix set.

HoT Thor Fig

HoT Loki Fig

HoT Gert and Old Lace Fig

I must say that I’m not very impressed with the sculpts so far.  Let’s hope they at least have some good stats and powers to make up for them.

Makes me glad I’m only buying 1 case this time around instead of 2.

Best Justice League & Hulk HeroClix Characters?

Okay, so I’m working on [what I believe to be] a kick ass custom Heroclix project, but I need to solicit the opinions of those of you on the Inter-Web (you know, both of you that read this blog).

IYO, what is the BEST character representation (in HeroClix form) for the following characters:

Batman

Superman

Wonder Woman

Flash

Green Lantern

Hulk

But just the standard versions of each character, not any “variant” versions like Sinestro Corps Batman, or Son of Darkseid Superman (like he would even be considered the best Superman anyway!)

And by Green Lantern, I’m implying Hal Jordan.

I thank you in advance.

Excelsior!

Justice League Alex Ross

Official Press Release From NECA!

NECA Acquires WizKids Assets from Topps
09/14/2009

The National Entertainment Collectibles Association, Inc. (NECA) has purchased the majority of the assets of WizKids, Inc. from The Topps Company, Inc., including the award-winning Clix family of games, which includes HeroClix, ActionClix, HorrorClix and SportsClix. NECA will also acquire the WizKids brand, the Pocketmodel Game family of games, including the Pirates of the Crimson Coast, Pirates of the Spanish Main and Pirates of the Cursed Seas games, and the Mage Knight line of games.

The assets of WizKids that were purchased by NECA have been transferred to a wholly owned NECA subsidiary operating out of its offices in Hillside, New Jersey, which will operate under the WizKids name.

Clix pioneered the collectible miniature category and HeroClix has been the leading collectible game in the comic genre since its 2002 debut, due to its innovative game platform and deep collection of characters from the respective worlds of Marvel and DC Comics. NECA will continue the successful HeroClix product lines from powerhouse brands DC Comics and Marvel.

The Pocketmodel Game family of games includes the Pirates of the Cursed Seas PocketModel Trading Card Game, which is the latest in the successful line of Pirates card games that has run since selling out its first run in 2004.

“WizKids has created the best games within the collectible miniature and constructible genres and NECA is proud to help continue this great legacy,” said Joel Weinshanker, President and CEO of NECA. “The HeroClix engine is the envy of the industry and many companies have attempted to emulate it without success. We’re thrilled to deliver HeroClix to the gamers.”

NECA has hired Lax Chandra, who ran the WizKids subsidiary for The Topps Company, to be the President of NECA’s newly formed subsidiary, which will operate under the WizKids name. Former WizKids employees Chas Delong, Wade Sugiyama and Mike Elliott have also been brought on to help with the transition.

In the coming days and weeks, the new WizKids company will make further announcements about upcoming release plans.
